“In the Donetsk region, ATO forces liquidated a group of Russian saboteurs who criminally invaded the territory of Ukraine. Near the village of Zerkalny, Amvrosievsky district, Donetsk region, a joint operational group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the SBU detained ten servicemen of the 331st regiment of the 98th Svir division of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Armed Forces (unit 71211),” says the SBU in a statement, which repeats the information earlier voiced Yuriy Lutsenko.
According to the SBU, “Russian military personnel were detained with personal documents and weapons.” The intelligence service claims that they testified that on August 23 the battalion of paratroopers was redeployed by rail to the Rostov region of the Russian Federation, and at about 3 a.m. on August 24, the unit was alerted and received an order to march in a column of several dozen infantry fighting vehicles.
SBU investigators have opened criminal proceedings into illegal border crossing by armed citizens of the Russian state.
In turn, the Russian Ministry of Defense denied information about the “capture” of a Russian landing vehicle near Lugansk, as well as the crossing of the border by a convoy of Russian armored vehicles and its subsequent destruction by the Ukrainian military.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also said that Moscow considers information about Russian troops crossing the border with Ukraine as a manifestation of “information war.”
