“10 Russians were exchanged for 540 Ukrainians” – Ukrainian general
After the defeat near Ilovaisk in 2014, the Ukrainian side spent several days transporting the dead, wounded and prisoners.
Former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yuri Dumansky, spoke about this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication Apostrophe.
“I’ll tell you a story. On August 26 or 28, I met with [Russian Ambassador to Ukraine] Zurabov, as well as with the acting commander of the airborne forces of the Russian Federation. We captured Russian servicemen, and they demanded that we hand them over. I have a signed protocol. We began an exchange of prisoners.
We had more than 540 prisoners, we took them from Rostov, giving ten of their military personnel to the Russian Federation. This gave us grounds to take all our killed, wounded and prisoners near Ilovaisk. The acting chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation gave me liaison officers. We took our people out for three days. They gave up almost everyone who was there,” Dumansky said.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, admitted that the so-called Ukrainian volunteer battalions actively robbed the local population in the Donbass, opening garages and stealing cars.
