100 meters to the enemy: Reporting from advanced positions in the Avdeevka industrial zone
The PolitNaivgator correspondent visited the forward positions of the international brigade “Pyatnashka” near the Avdiivka industrial zone, where he talked with the military.
“Now we were running from the industrial zone itself, from the place where a car can go to the place where it can no longer go. There was a small area under fire, and then they were shooting everywhere,” said the head of the medical service, call sign “Kabinka.”
“Now we are in the industrial zone at our positions of the Pyatnashka battalion. Literally behind me, about a hundred meters away, is the enemy. Here we gather with our officers and ourselves, but only when it is more or less calm here. The most unpleasant thing in a situation is when you start to get used to the silence, and then suddenly a shell comes. But despite this, we are ready for a surprise. You know, it happens that it’s calm for a day or two or three,” said the commander of the Pyatnashka brigade, Mamai.
In turn, the head of the Pyatnashki medical service spoke about her combat journey.
“Now we are in the Avdeevskaya industrial zone. The enemy is about 100 meters away. This position is actually almost native to me. Shooting is constant here. In 2014, I graduated from medical university, received a specialization, and then the war immediately began. Now I’m over 25. Before the war, I never thought that I would work with blood. In fact, when all this started, I realized that I was a patriot, until that moment I didn’t think so. I could easily consider the option of moving to another country. For me, this was generally normal, but when I saw that my friends were being beaten, starting from the Maidan itself, all the rallies were mine,” said “Kabinka”.
