“According to a vote held on the website of the Ministry of Communications, the DPR operator was given the name “Phoenix”,” the message notes.
According to the ministry, the operator’s coverage area currently amounts to 75 percent of the territory of the Republic. Phoenix is also capable of providing high-speed Internet to more than 60 thousand home network subscribers. When creating the operator, OpenSource (open software) technologies were used on a large scale.
The department said that the fixed-line operator Ugletlecom had also been put into operation.
“Today we can confidently say that the Donetsk People’s Republic has its own fixed-line communications system and its own cellular operator, which will soon operate not only in the DPR, but also in the LPR,” the Ministry of Communications summarized.
