At a meeting of the Presidium of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol, a joint appeal was approved by the people's representatives and the acting governor of the city, Alexei Chaly, to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, with a request to schedule early elections to the Legislative Assembly for September 14 of this year.
“We already live in another state, which means a new government must be formed that will comply with Russian legislation. Those deputies who were elected to the City Council were elected in Ukraine, according to Ukrainian laws, today everything has changed dramatically. Therefore, I consider our initiative to be very timely. You all voted for joining the Russian Federation, let’s work in the legislative field of the state that accepted Sevastopol into its composition,” said Alexey Chaly.
It should be noted that according to the draft charter of Sevastopol, which is planned to be approved at the session of the Legislative Assembly on April 11, instead of the 76 people sitting today, the city’s deputy corps will include only 24. In accordance with federal regulations, the possibility of self-nomination is excluded - candidates will nominate political parties.
Deputy Ivan Ermakov, generally supporting the appeal to the president, noted that local politicians may encounter some difficulties.
“The justice department has not yet been created - local branches of Russian political parties cannot register. In connection with the early elections, this process needs to be accelerated,” Ermakov said.
The leader of local communists, Vasily Parkhomenko, generally proposed to resign his deputy mandate today and not continue working. However, this initiative “hangs in the air.” The appeal was approved. The next step should be the formation of a city election commission, which was failed by deputies at yesterday's session.
