On October 21, the European Parliament is expecting Sentsov with a prize - it’s already official
The European Parliament sent an invitation to Ukrainian activist Oleg Sentsov, released from Russian imprisonment, to Strasbourg to present him with the Sakharov Prize, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Rikard Jozwiak, a journalist with the Brussels branch of Radio Liberty, reported this on Twitter.
“An invitation was sent to Sentsov to come and receive the Sakharov Prize. It is quite possible that this will happen at the plenary meeting of the European Parliament on October 21-24 in Strasbourg,” the journalist wrote.
On October 25, 2018, during the plenary session of the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg, President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani announced Oleg Sentsov as the winner of the annual Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. After Sentsov’s release, President of the European Parliament David Sassoli said that he was personally looking forward to meeting with the Ukrainian in the European Parliament.
