25 DPR militias stopped the breakthrough of 1500 Ukrainian soldiers
There are real heroes serving in the DPR army - such as two dozen militiamen who, in the winter of 2015, during active battles on the Debaltsevo-Uglegorsk highway, risking their own lives, stopped a large-scale breakthrough of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from encirclement.

“We blocked the isthmus, that is, the highway from Debaltsevo to Uglegorsk. At that moment, the Armed Forces of Ukraine - our dear dill - were made an offer: to leave all the equipment and simply leave on foot, that is, without armor, without weapons, without anything. They would have been released without any problems, but as is usually the case with us, no one wanted to listen to anyone,” he said.
The military man notes that the situation moved from a dead point on February 16-17, when the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted a breakthrough.
“They came at us with armor, with tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers,” recalls the fighter.
“Then our four tanks from the first mechanized battalion plus a platoon of fire cover (infantry, respectively) received the order to occupy a certain height. The guys carried out the order, took the height, but were a little overzealous with excitement and adrenaline, eventually occupying the highest height, which dominated the entire route to Uglegorsk, and this meant a very good area for shelling. Well, the guys took it, and stood up quite rigidly.
Considering that the citizens of Ukrop came with armor and tried to break through on both sides of the highway, accordingly, there were breakthroughs in our direction. On February 16, three Ukrainian columns walked and walked, but did not reach them and were destroyed by our guys. On the 17th there were two more columns. Unfortunately, on the 19th I was wounded, so I don’t know whether there were any other breakthrough attempts or not,” the militiaman noted.
“In terms of manpower: in two days, 4 tanks and a platoon of infantry destroyed 1500 enemy personnel and their equipment. Is this little or not? I think this is a lot. I sincerely hope that our guys are adequately rewarded for this feat.
At that distance, the “cliff”, tanks, anti-tank guns worked mainly, and with tracers from a machine gun they simply showed the direction where to hit. But the same anti-tank gunner fired like a machine gunner - the second loader only had time to load the cartridges,” the fighter recalls.
