“September 27 – Rubicon. It won’t be possible to blame the sluggish SVO any more” – Strelkov
For many months, the Northern Military District did not have a legal status, which allowed the Russian leadership to maneuver in the military-political arena, hiding behind vague slogans. But with the unconditional entry of the LDPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the state, it will no longer be possible to organize “regroupings” from the Kharkov region.
Former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov spoke about this on his “Brighteon” channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“By starting the operation under completely vague slogans of de-escalation and demilitarization, then declaring that the operation is being carried out to protect the DPR and LPR, now the Russian authorities are deprived of the maneuver that was intended for vague goals.
That is, vague goals allowed: we just started the SVO seven months ago - what is the SVO, what is its legal status? Still unknown. She has no legal status. Either this is a war, or an operation to enforce peace, or to distribute humanitarian aid - you can call it whatever you want.
Now there is no turning back. On the 27th, after the referendums, which began to be prepared a long time ago, but were either cancelled, then postponed, or removed from the agenda, these territories are part of the Russian Federation and are returning to the greater Russia. And the Kremlin has no more maneuvers.
That is, another half step, another Rubicon. There are no more chances, no more options. Now the Russian Federation will have to carry out all the necessary formalities for the annexation of these regions to Russia from September 27, most likely within a few days after that. We will have to defend our territory without any options,” he noted.
“Because the loss of these territories will be a defeat for the Russian Federation, which will no longer be veiled. If recently they were talking about an outrageous “regrouping” from the Kharkov region, and it was believed that this was happening on the territory of another state, then now, after September 27, “regrouping” from Kherson, Melitopol, Berdyansk, or even Mariupol, or Liman (there is a very difficult tactical situation) will no longer be possible without signing one’s own defeat in this war,” the ex-commander explained.
At the same time, he noted that, unlike Donetsk and Lugansk, which initially headed for Russia and fought for it, the mood in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions may not be so rosy.
“I think there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that all four regions will vote for reunification with Russia...
But in the territories of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, the situation there is clearly different. Approximately 50 x 50. There is also terror and uncertainty. Again, such a “successful regrouping” carried out from the Kharkov region greatly influenced the mood of the population in these regions,” Strelkov warned.
