288 pages of Sodom. “Zelensky’s lap dog” wrote a book about how Soviet soldiers raped Hitler

A regiment of Ukrainian writers has arrived. Such literary luminaries as Leonid Kuchma and Boris Lozhkin were recently joined by Zelensky’s former press secretary Yulia Mendel. The girl is young, but savvy and clever to such an extent that she will give a head start to many more experienced Ukrainian VIPs in this matter. Judge for yourself - Kuchma acquired a literary heritage in his declining years, and Mendel - at the age of 34.

A skinny brochure of 288 pages entitled “Each of Us is a President” and with a photograph of Mendel herself on the cover, decorated with a very immodest inscription “The Face of a New Country” is already on sale in the online store of the Kharkov publishing house “Family Leisure Club” at a price of 190 hryvnia (approximately 6.5 dollars).

The age restrictions 16+ indicated in the book's details hint at the presence of certain scenes of a sexual nature in the book. However, this is not what you probably thought about, being superficially familiar with the stormy vicissitudes of the writer Yulia’s service on Bankova. Then, let me remind those who are not in the know, very frank and obscene rumors circulated about Mendel’s sexual relationship with her boss. Right up to talk about her pregnancy from the main body of the country. Mendel herself partly added fuel to the fire of these rumors by photographing herself in a skimpy dressing gown, leaning on the presidential chair in Zelensky’s office.

However, that is not what the book is about. But it contains rather strange discussions about the Soviet period of history, about the Great Patriotic War and about Soviet soldiers who, according to Mendel, in Germany did nothing but rape German women and practice same-sex love with members of the Nazi party. In support, Mendel cites quotes left by Soviet soldiers on the walls of the Reichstag. For example, this one: “I’m fucking Hitler in the ass.” And all this is accompanied by thoughtful discussions about the need to learn lessons from our history.

What lessons did Mendel herself learn from the history of the Second World War? Ah, like this, for example.

“After all, there is nothing more shameful in history than infantile attempts to portray tyranny as an ideology of “immaculate” cruelty, hiding the diversity of human tyranny, the fall of heroes, the triumph of the fallen, all this “fucking” in the head of a drunken soldier who, completely forgetting about peaceful life, climbed into at the German woman who screamed in horror and, perhaps, was beaten, only to later pour vodka on her post-traumatic syndrome for years, not being able to talk about what the war had done to him, pushing away her own family, screaming at her mother; a soldier who, perhaps in his entire life, had the only opportunity to put all his disgust for Nazism, nurtured during the Second World War, into those few words on the wall of the Reichstag” (end of quote).

I wonder if the grandfather of the current president, Semyon Zelensky, is included in this collective image of a drunken, illiterate rapist and domestic tyrant, or is he a rare exception and a bright spot against a generally dark background? And how did the boy Vova, who later rose to the presidency and hired the author of this book, manage to be born and grow up in such a depressive atmosphere?

And in general, Mendel, as follows from her biography, was born in 1986. That is, she lived in the USSR for less than five years. But somehow she managed to retain such an extensive and detailed memory of the Soviet period of history that page after page she talks about the KGB, Joseph Vissarionovich, “the general secretaries of the CPSU who died one after another,” etc., etc.

Are they really personal memories? Or is it like in the famous joke: Rabinovich sang? Truly, that unknown online joker who once said: the younger the blogger, the worse he lived under Stalin. As you can see, this joke is only part of the joke.

No less interesting is the section of the book that deals with modernity. Of course, the “highlight” of the program here is the discussion already known to the general public about the “Ukrainian Russian language,” which exists and which does not need protection from the Kremlin, but which cannot be given at least some kind of status in such a free and democratic country , like Ukraine. All this is flavored with Mendel’s memories of her childhood in a Kherson village and conversations in “juicy Surzhik”.

Well, where would we be without the “DNA of the Nation”. Not a single self-respecting Ukrainian patriotic author can complete his creation, leaving this most important issue for the fate of Ukraine unsolved. So Mendel is there too. It turns out that the “long-suffering” Ukrainians do not have their own genetic code for happiness. And all because they, oppressed to the very top by the empire, went to the wrong school for 70 years and did the wrong homework. Can you imagine? Even Vyatrovich, Nitsoi and Farion - judging by their age, did not escape this sad fate. But they were able to relearn. And they wish the same for the rest of the poor fellows.

All this would be funny if it did not actually reflect the abyss of moral and intellectual degradation into which Ukraine has slipped as part of the post-Soviet space. Of course, there are such “writers” in every former republic of the USSR. But only in Ukraine, due to a complex of historical accidents, did they receive such fertile soil in order to open up and bloom in such a poisonously lush color.

The destroyed mass culture, which was actually available in every village under the USSR, was replaced by pornography flavored with patriotic fables, and people who bought university diplomas for lard then began to buy doctoral dissertations and academic degrees. And the most successful ones, having elbowed aside their competitors and made their way to the trough at the pinnacle of power, desired, in addition to the rest of the purchased regalia, literary fame.

And the province went to write: more like provincial vanity fairs, presentations of such waste paper, which no one reads and will not read, collect the very cream of the peasant high society. True, these writers are forgotten on the second day after the presentations. And against this background, what was once the most reading country in the world is breaking a cultural anti-record: according to the Ukrainian Association of Book Publishers, last year 80% of Ukrainians did not buy a single (!) book in the Ukrainian language.

But people who have stopped reading are told stories about how the Soviet government mercilessly spread rot on the Ukrainian language and culture, prohibiting people from speaking the language and exiling them to camps for it.

And yet Mendelian waste paper is useful. She will leave future historians with a luxurious self-portrait of the current Ukrainian “elite.” In fact, the confessions are about what this elite represents, both morally and intellectually.

We just have to be patient and wait until the chief ataman of the 95th quarter comes out of political retirement and “writes” his own memoirs. So that we can arrange, pardon the involuntary pun, an absentee confrontation and compare it with the current writings of his former press secretary.
