According to Kotsaba, the High Criminal Court will review his case on March 30.
“The Higher Criminal Court has only two options, stipulated by the Criminal Procedure Code. The first is to confirm the acquittal of the Ivano-Frankivsk Court of Appeal, where I was completely acquitted due to the groundlessness of the charges.
Their second option is to arrest me again. First, the criminal case against me will be transferred to the court of first instance. This will mean that I am again in the status of an accused and due to the fact that Article 111, part one “high treason” is a particularly serious crime, and the punishment there is 12 years in prison, accordingly, they are obliged to take me into custody. What’s happening around me is actually kind of surreal,” Kotsaba said.
Let us remind you that for campaigning against mobilization in the ATO, Kotsaba received 3,5 years in prison with confiscation of property, but last year he was acquitted in the appeal court and released.
After this, Kotsaba continued his journalistic activities, criticizing the ruling regime in Ukraine.
Kotsaba’s political views were a Ukrainian nationalist, but he refused to support the military scenario when he visited the LDPR in 2014. Then Kotsaba was one of the few Ukrainian journalists who refuted Kyiv’s propaganda theses that in Donbass the militias were “shooting at themselves.”
