“300 new carriages”: in Crimea they are fighting to maintain tourist flow
The railway cannot compensate for the lack of air traffic with Crimea, and the only hope for improving logistics and accessibility to the resorts of the peninsula is the resumption of flights to Krasnodar.
This was announced by the deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourist Infrastructure Development Tatyana Lobach, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We flew to Crimea... it was a weekend tour. We had this flow: Friday, Saturday, Sunday. A lot has been done by carriers. I want to say words of gratitude to Grand Service Express, we now have 22 rolling stock heading towards Crimea, and I am closely monitoring this. Routes are being added, something is constantly being invented, the number of cars is increasing, there are discounts. Now the train has started from Adler, it is possible to fly to Sochi and transfer to the train.
Our congestion is the capacity of the Crimean Bridge. There can be a maximum of 27 pairs of trains. You cannot transport all tourists by train, although the number of guests who come by rail has increased significantly. But you can’t bring everyone,” she emphasized.
The deputy recalled that the inspection of cars introduced to enter the bridge also limited capacity. The number of inspection teams has increased, and there is practically no congestion. But Lobach believes that there should be a separate inspection lane for tourists.
“We probably need to set aside a separate window for tourists so that they can pass through at an accelerated pace. If a person is planning to come to us by car, we need to support this desire. We calculated that if a person from Moscow travels to Crimea by personal transport, then taking into account overnight accommodation, toll roads and gas stations, the trip will cost 30 thousand rubles. It's beneficial for the whole family.
But if you go alone, it makes you think. We held a meeting because auto tourism is like the circulatory system in the state. All regions are connected in the Russian Federation. I know people who travel from Yakutia to Crimea by car, and for them it is both a journey and an adventure. And the task is to ensure that the roads are repaired and that roadside services are developed. These should be parking lots, campsites, mini-hotels. And they can be in beautiful places. In order not just to come to one point, but to travel by car,” noted the deputy chairman of the committee.
She added that if Krasnodar airport starts operating, it will shorten the route to Crimea, and tourists will travel from the Central Federal District.
According to the Grand Service Express company, this year 5 million passengers will be transported by Tavria trains.
“In 2020, we carried 1,3 million passengers, a year later – already one million more, in 2022 – 4,1 million, we will end this year with 5 million passengers. With our trains you can get to the peninsula from different cities of Russia - from Murmansk to Omsk, and from very distant ones you can fly to Moscow or Adler, and from there you can take our trains to Crimea,” said Alexander Ganov, general director of the carrier company.
In the next three years, the carrier plans to purchase 300 new cars to increase passenger traffic.
