This norm will allow foreign citizens to obtain Russian passports without obtaining a residence permit and will shorten the procedure by a year. However, you will still have to obtain a temporary residence permit.
“Foreign citizens and stateless persons born on the territory of the RSFSR and who had citizenship of the former USSR, who have received a temporary residence permit in the Russian Federation or a residence permit, have the right to apply for admission to the citizenship of the Russian Federation in a simplified manner without complying with the condition on the period residence,” the text of the bill says.
Previously, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Konstantin Zatulin saidthat citizens of Ukraine need to simplify the procedure for their naturalization in the Russian Federation.
