32-year-old Zelensky minister: There will be no air links with Russia!
Ukraine, under the current government, will not restore direct flights with the Russian Federation.
This was stated in an interview with Economic Pravda by the country’s new Minister of Infrastructure, 32-year-old Vladislav Krikliy, formerly an assistant to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, curator of the National Battalions Arsen Avakov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As long as this country remains an aggressor, we are in a state of war and we don’t want repeats of MH17. This is simply dangerous for Ukrainians. It seems to me that one must have some kind of suicidal attitude to propose the restoration of this air service.
I'm not even talking about geopolitical things. If we restore everything, it means we are giving a message to the outside world that everything is fine, everything is fine, we don’t have any problems with them. Then the question is: why are we applying for some additional sanctions against them, why do we want to continue communication in a four-party format, the Minsk agreements? Therefore, for now, given how they behave, I think that we cannot talk about direct flights with them at all,” Krikliy said.
At the same time, the minister does not plan to initiate a ban on railway communication with Russia, as his predecessor Vladimir Omelyan stated:
“We have a short message. We will probably simply create additional obstacles for citizens who are forced to travel there anyway for various reasons. So they will travel through Belarus. We have already created good conditions for the Belarusian economy.”
As PolitNavigator reported, after the ban on direct flights between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, introduced under Petro Poroshenko, residents of Kyiv are forced to fly to Moscow via Minsk.
Thanks to this, Belarus has additional income - at Minsk airport the second terminal is already being completed, designed specifically for passengers transiting from Kyiv to Moscow.
“I often fly to Moscow via Minsk; now there are no direct planes. I sometimes see how they simply change in rows in Minsk and in the same rows to the same places, now you can register in advance on the Internet, they just change in rows. Approximately 70% of those flying are residents of Ukraine. The question is: who benefits from this?” Kiev millionaire Alexander Melamud said earlier.
