32 missiles in one salvo: the killer of the Ukrainian mosquito fleet was delivered to Crimea
The Russian coastal missile system "Bal" will receive a new missile that will be able to fire 500 kilometers and hit not only ships, but also ground targets.
The tests of the new missile were successful, TASS writes, citing its source in the military-industrial complex, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Bal missile system can fire 32 missiles in one salvo, and it has the same number in ammunition. “Balls” are also located on the Black Sea coast, in particular in Crimea.
According to Ukrainian military expert Taras Chmut, the appearance in Russia of a modern missile for a coastal missile system is a serious challenge for Ukraine.
There is a high probability that these missiles will be put on duty in Crimea and will allow the Black Sea Fleet to reach Odessa without leaving their bases.
“This is bad news for Ukraine, since it can be assumed that the Black Sea Fleet will be one of the first to receive new missiles. Today, the Coastal Missile and Artillery Forces of the occupier include the 15th separate coastal missile brigade (in Crimea) and the 11th separate coastal missile and artillery brigade (Krasnodar Territory), which are armed with at least the “Balov” division.
The occupier's receipt of updated missiles puts the Ukrainian Navy in an even more difficult position - if previously only the expensive 3K55 Bastion-P coastal missile system with heavy supersonic K-310 Yakhont missiles could easily be taken from the conditional Sevastopol to Odessa, now this will become possible and the cheaper “Bal”, for which the main targets are ships of the “missile boat”, “corvette” and “frigate” class, Chmut writes in his blog.
The expert also notes that Russia was able to create an effective reconnaissance, surface illumination and target designation system for its missiles thanks to over-the-horizon radars, UAVs, helicopters and coastal radio reconnaissance units:
“Increasing the strike potential of the occupier requires the Navy to take a balanced approach to arming future missile boats and corvettes - the emphasis on air defense/missile defense should be key for the survival of the ship itself and the ability to intercept missiles that will fly along the coastal infrastructure. It is also obvious that we must be prepared to wage war in the face of the loss of part of the sailing personnel in the first day of the confrontation.”
