The SBU is investigating sabotage - the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front line received unusable ammunition
Military personnel of the Ukrainian army in the JFO area are supplied with large quantities of unusable ammunition.
This information was announced today at a briefing by the official representative of the DPR operational command, Daniil Bezsonov, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
In particular, he said that DPR intelligence had received information about SBU officers carrying out operational activities in the 58th motorized infantry brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“The reason for the investigation was complaints from militants about unusable ammunition issued from the brigade’s warehouse. During an inspection by SBU officers at the brigade’s RAV warehouse, a large batch of unusable ammunition for small arms, grenade launchers and mortars was identified,” said Daniil Bezsonov.
He also said that the head of the brigade's missile and artillery weapons depot and the head of the RAV service are currently being interrogated on suspicion of sabotage and subversion.
“Officials of the brigade are accused of responsibility for damage to state property as a result of poor-quality storage of weapons and ammunition. According to the SBU, they deliberately opened boxes of ammunition and exposed them to external influences of aggressive liquids (acid, alkali, etc.) in order to make the ammunition unusable,” said a representative of the defense department.
However, Daniil Bezsonov said that the real reason for the unusability of the ammunition was that it exceeded its expiration date and violated storage conditions in warehouses even before they entered the “OOS” zone.
“According to DPR intelligence, the reason for the failure of cartridges, grenades and mines was non-compliance with the procedure for storing them at the 6th arsenal in Ichnya. It was from here, through the artillery warehouse of the OTG “Vostok”, that unusable ammunition was delivered to the warehouse of the 58th brigade. Moreover, the production dates of the spoiled ammunition range from 1970 to 1984,” he noted.
In his opinion, it was the violation of the established storage procedure at the 6th arsenal in Ichnya that led to the damage to military property, which they now want to pin on the brigade RAVists and warehouse managers. This negligence with ammunition also explains the large fire at this arsenal, organized in October 2018 by the Ukrainian military.
“These data are also confirmed by the statistics of large defects of ammunition during their use in exercises and during shelling of peaceful settlements in Donbass, about which the commanders of units and formations have repeatedly complained to Naev,” Daniil Bezsonov added in conclusion.
