36 Kosovo Serb families received new apartments from Serbia
The director of the Serbian Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, handed over the keys to 36 new apartments in Kosovska (North) Mitrovica to the residents of three new houses.
These houses were built in the Serbian enclave of the region with Serbian funds, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The apartments, with an average area of 60 square meters, were built for the needs of young couples, internally displaced families, and the socially vulnerable population of the Serbian enclave of Kosovska Mitrovica.
After visiting the newly built apartments, Petar Petkovic noted that there is no better gift for the state of Serbia on the eve of Christmas than “seeing the smiles on the faces of these wonderful people.”
“The Office for Kosovo and Metohija handed over 36 apartments out of 96 apartments built in 2020. Eight buildings in North Mitrovica, five buildings in Leposavic, two buildings in Zvecan and three buildings in Zubin Potok. In 2021 we will continue at the same pace,” Petkovic said. – When we have children, we have a future, and this is the most important thing. More than 330 million dinars (254 million rubles – ed.) were invested in the construction of these buildings...
In total we will have 96 families, which we will house in eight buildings here in North Mitrovica.”
Having congratulated the owners of the new apartments on Christmas, Petkovic conveyed to them congratulations from Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the entire leadership of Serbia with the message that Belgrade remains with the Serbian people in Kosovo to build, create and fight together for a better future.
