43% of Ukrainian households have exhausted their savings
Despite the frosts and electricity shortages, the vast majority of Ukrainian citizens are not ready to leave their homes.
This was reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent on the website of the International Organization for Migration, which conducted a survey on this topic.
“Even in the case of a prolonged absence of basic utilities without information about the timing of their restoration, two out of three respondents say that they will not leave their home. At the same time, private resources for survival are being depleted, as 43% of households in Ukraine have exhausted their savings. To save money, 63% of respondents limit the consumption of gas, electricity and solid fuel,” the publication notes.
According to the head of the IOM representative office in Ukraine, An Nguyen, almost 18 million people in the country are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.
“We must support them during winter, especially those who do not have access to shelter and warmth. IOM calls for increased efforts as needs grow every day,” Nguyen said.
