50 percent of Russian citizens are in favor of military-technical support for the DPR and LPR
Russians expect the conflict in Donbass to escalate, but consider it right to refrain from military support for the DPR and LPR and use only diplomatic methods, Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes, citing the latest Levada Center poll.

“The majority of respondents believe that the conflict in southeast Ukraine will escalate in the coming months,” the publication cites the survey data. – 54% considered this option “quite probable”, and 16% – “almost inevitable”. The points of view “unlikely” (19%) and “practically excluded” (2%) are in the minority, and 10% found it difficult to answer. At the same time, the majority still believes (70%) that Russia is not conducting military actions against Ukraine.”
At the same time, 72% are against sending troops to Ukraine, 20% are in favor, 8% abstained.
“The majority actually favor diplomatic (88%) or humanitarian (84%) support for the DPR and LPR,” NG emphasizes. – There are fewer supporters of providing other types of assistance – economic and military. Over the past year, a downward trend has emerged: 50% are in favor of military-technical support (versus 64% compared to June 2014). The number of opponents of aid with weapons has also increased: now 38% are in favor of this (in June 2014 it was 25%). 72% believe that economic assistance should be provided, 25% disagree with this, 9% abstained. In June 2014, there were more supporters of solidarity with Donbass – 79%, and fewer opponents (16%).”
