500 million from Merkel for the restoration of Donbass? This is a mockery!
In a few days, Donbass will celebrate Miner's Day. But for the miners this holiday will literally be “with tears in their eyes.” The entire long-term way of life of the people who raised the country's economy is being destroyed. Moreover, it seems to be being destroyed by its own state.
Even if we assume that Donetsk is taken by the Kyiv military, it is interesting to imagine how the dialogue with the people of Donbass will take place. Merkel promised 500 million euros for the restoration of destroyed cities. But this is a mockery: non-German money is barely enough to repair the Donetsk airport and reconstruct Shakhtersk alone.
It is possible that no one is going to restore the enterprises. And what is happening now is the planned and methodical destruction of the industrial potential of Donbass. In this case, it is impossible to say that “liberation” is taking place. A real cleanup is underway.
Kyiv does not perceive Donetsk as its territory, and its residents as its citizens. And Donetsk responds in kind. The war continues.
Everyone has already forgotten that it all started with an innocent referendum on May 11. At that time, no one gathered into militia groups; there were practically no weapons on hand, as well as the prerequisites for military operations. Then the people of Donbass expressed their position. And Kyiv had only one reasonable path left: to calmly take note of this and patiently, insinuatingly, establish a dialogue with the East, and this was logical.
Before this, the West and the Center of Ukraine expressed their position, and very actively and even aggressively. The East responded symmetrically, but much softer. In this situation, the only thing that was required was to hear people, sit down at the negotiating table, and stop the hysteria in the media.
Then Donbass' demands were simple, transparent and more than feasible.
But in the end, instead of dialogue - arrogance, instead of negotiations - the National Guard. And this is the worst mistake of the Kyiv authorities, who considered the people of Donbass an amorphous mass, cattle that react only to a shout. After a short shock and misunderstanding of what was happening, the South-East responded: the people took up arms. Now a situation has arisen that is simply called war.
But this war is very strange. On the one hand, Kyiv claims that it is liberating its land and population from invaders and “terrorists.” In this case, why shell peaceful city neighborhoods with GRAD installations and howitzer artillery, why sow panic and horror among the civilian population?!
Every day of such “liberation” claims from 70 to 110 lives of civilians in Donbass. Every day, heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems destroy on average two factories, or enterprises, firmly integrated into the infrastructure of cities.
By the way, here is one example: while this material is being written, a substation in the Kievsky district of Donetsk and the mine located there were destroyed by a shell. Zasyadko has lost power, the 104th miner remains underground, rescue work is underway. How will they feel when they rise to the surface, and if they die, what will their relatives be like? Are these questions being asked in Kyiv?
Many enterprises in Donbass are city-forming. And the life of a small town, such as Anthracite, or Avdeevka, depends entirely on the uninterrupted operation of a plant or mine. If the plant stops, life stops here. People are not getting paid, and the entire city system is breaking down.
Do they know about this in Kyiv? Naturally. So what is this, “liberation”, “occupation”, or “cleansing”?
