Aksenov explained that there is no land corridor to Kherson for civilians yet
The land road corridor to Crimea from the territories of South-East Ukraine taken under Russian control is open only to freight transport and military personnel.
This was announced by the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The route is open, but it’s too early to talk about accessibility for civilian vehicles,” Aksenov emphasized. – At least the road is suitable for transporting any cargo to the LPR and DPR. In fact, it’s already a through passage, you can drive to the Rostov region. For military purposes and food delivery everything is fine, for civilian purposes it will take some time.”
The day before, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that road traffic from Russian territory along the mainland to Crimea is open. Thus, transport links pass through the territories of the DPR, LPR and Zaporozhye region.
According to the former Minister of Transport of Crimea, and now the head of the Association of Freight Carriers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Anatoly Tsurkin, this will significantly reduce the costs of transporting consumer goods from Russian territory to the Donbass and Azov region. The route will be shortened by 500-600 kilometers.
In Crimean publics, this news was received with enthusiasm and hope that soon not only cars, but also trains will begin to run directly, and not through a detour through Krasnodar. However, administratively, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions are territories of Ukraine, and crossing the border requires compliance with the rules, as at other checkpoints to other states.
