Poor Moldova intends to “stop Russia”
President of Moldova Maia Sandu made another series of anti-Russian statements.
This happened during the World Economic Forum in Davos, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We must stop Russia and help Ukraine win this war, because otherwise each of us will be in danger. […] We do not see Russia as a democratic country in the near future, which means that the danger remains,” Sandu noted,
In addition, she accused Russia of allegedly blackmailing Moldova with gas.
“But Europe managed to find solutions, which is not easy. Yes, we have to pay for it, and we are sorry that citizens paid a very high price for energy resources. In Moldova, the gas tariff has increased 7 times, and this is not a country where people have high incomes. However, we believe in democracy and want to be part of the free world,” Sandu said pompously.
According to her, Moldova is faced with many crises that arose due to the fault of Russia, and in this situation “it has a chance to survive only within the framework of the European Union.”
“Enlargement will make the European Union stronger, because the EU needs peace and stability in Moldova and Ukraine. Moldova has a chance to survive as a democracy only within the EU. Moldova has support for European integration. Ukraine has shown that it pays the highest price for democracy and European values. Moldovans are doing everything in their power,” Sandu concluded.
Ukrainian blogger Olga Shariy ridiculed the Moldovan president.
“What else should Moldova do if not help Ukraine. Do pensions even reach $50 there?” — asked Shariy.
