This was announced by Deputy of the Legislative Assembly, ex-head of the city administration Ivan Ermakov.
It was he who initiated the creation of the memorial sign a year and a half ago. This happened immediately after the death of 24-year-old Pavel Bondarev, who covered with his body two children who were being rushed by a car that had lost control. By the way, the monument will be erected exactly at the exit from Gorpishchenko Street, where the tragedy happened.
At the end of 2012, deputy Ivan Ermakov launched a cry to raise funds for a monument dedicated to the feat of Bondarev, as well as two more Sevastopol residents - Andrei Usanin and Evgeniy Skorobogatov, who also died saving children.
The project was completed completely free of charge by the famous city architect Georgy Grigoryants. About 230 thousand hryvnia were required to create the sculpture and install it. City Council deputies (many of whom are big businessmen) collected only 40 thousand.
“Alexander Krasilnikov (president of FC Sevastopol) gave the most - 10 thousand, as well as the current acting. head of the city administration Dmitry Belik - 5 thousand. I don't want to judge anyone. Thanks for that too. The fact of participation is important. But I promised myself to erect this monument, and now, finally, we are opening it,” said Ivan Ermakov.
He also said that the leadership of the Patriots of Russia party, whose Sevastopol branch is now headed by Ermakov, promised to reimburse part of the funds spent.
The Monument to the Heroes who died saving children is a four-meter statue of an “eternally lit candle” made of marble. The base of the column is a pyramid, on the edges of which the names of Pavel Bondarev, Andrei Usanin and Evgeniy Skorobogatov are engraved.
Benches will be installed near the monument, as well as a lighting system that will operate around the clock.
