“One of the most important issues in the investigation into the causes of the crash of flight MH17,” you write German edition, - the question is why the plane flew through this particular area. As it has just become known, Holland was warned about the danger of flying over the conflict zone at least three days in advance, but nevertheless did not change the route.”
A letter was published in The Hague confirming that the country's government had been notified in advance of the dangers of flying over the region. The Netherlands was informed that the day before, a transport cargo plane belonging to Kyiv was shot down over the conflict zone. The newspaper concludes that “from the information that was received, no conclusion was drawn about the adoption of additional security measures.”
Despite the notification, at the time of the alleged shooting of the plane, Die Welt reports, there were three more civil aircraft flying over the unclosed airspace - two Boeing 777s and one Airbus 330.
