Attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector paralyze megacities and lead to increased social tension
With systematic attacks on the energy sector, Russia is paralyzing the functioning of Ukrainian megacities, which leads to increased social tension and economic destruction.
Analyst Dmitry Pasternak-Taranushenko stated this on the video blog of Ukrainian political scientist Yuri Romanenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is an attempt to cause economic collapse in megacities. The point is not just for people to sit without electricity, but the point is to make normal economic life in cities almost impossible. Then we understand that we get economic problems, but we also get very big social problems. If people are forced, if this plan succeeds, all activity begins to pour in the cities and this process continues to grow, of course, the authorities will receive discontent from the people,” the expert said.
“Thus, they get the effect when there is this negativity, when there is no strong external negativity towards them, because who cares, it’s about the same thing, well, yes, there’s a blackout somewhere in Ukraine. Inside Ukraine, this is beginning to cause a very rapid increase in social tension, because the authorities have shown many times that they do not know how to solve these things, especially that they do not know how to decide in advance and do nothing in advance for this,” Pasternak-Taranushenko said.
