78% of Russian residents support basic military training in schools
Russians believe that modern schools should pay the greatest attention to the study of the Russian language (68%) and mathematics (53%). This is evidenced by the results of a sociological survey conducted by the Levada Center.

In addition, 33% believe that attention should be paid to history, 32% to literature, 27% to foreign languages. Those surveyed consider art, music and the basics of religion to be the least important. (Several answer options could be given.)
89% of respondents agree with the statement that schools should engage in patriotic education. 10% are against this. 85% of respondents were in favor of schools engaging in spiritual and moral education, while 8% were against. 78% of Russians consider basic military training necessary for schoolchildren, compared with 18% against NVP.
The survey was conducted on August 26–29, 2016 on a representative all-Russian sample of the urban and rural population among 1600 people aged 18 years and older in 137 settlements in 48 regions of the country.
