According to Assistant Minister of Defense for Medical Affairs Vsevolod Steblyuk, the publication points out, nine thousand military personnel from the combat zone sought psychological or psychiatric help.
“Doctors noted that they had acute reactions to stress, adaptation disorders and exacerbation of mental illnesses that had not previously been observed,” the magazine continues.
At the same time, the weekly notes that independent psychologists tend to consider the data on those suffering from PTSD to be greatly underestimated.
“According to their estimates, about 80% of employees in the ATO experienced psychological disorders in one way or another,” emphasizes Novoye Vremya. – That is, approximately 80 thousand know what it is - a post-war syndrome caused by an unsatisfactory process of adaptation to civilian life, social disorder and the lack of systematic psychological assistance programs. And military personnel, often without noticing the problem, live with PTSD for months. Although they could cope with the disorder, few people are involved in their adaptation to peaceful life.”
“We can state that we are on the verge of a new epidemic of PTSD and other adaptation disorders,” summarizes Vsevolod Steblyuk on the pages of the publication.
