81% of information leaks in Russia are accompanied by fraud

Over the past 8 years, the number of leaks from closed networks in Russia has been constantly growing. Natalya Kasperskaya, co-founder of Kaspersky Lab, spoke about this at the Federation Council today.

“In 2016, the growth was 16%. In 87% of cases, personal data is leaked. Because the databases of clients and patients are liquid. They can be sold, posted in the public domain, they can be used to compromise someone. This year, 81% of breaches were accompanied by further fraud. Last year – 85%,” Kasperskaya said.
According to her information, in 2015, 17% of the total share of leaks occurred from municipal authorities.
