Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and Priority Projects.
“This year alone, the volume of purchases by natural monopolies and companies with state participation from small companies has increased more than 10 times and has now exceeded a noticeable, serious amount - a trillion rubles. As a result, more than 110 thousand additional jobs were created in small enterprises. This is a good indicator,” Putin said.
The President emphasized that by 2018 the number of workers employed in small and individual businesses should grow to 20 million people.
“In the future, in terms of employment in small business and its share in GDP, we should reach comparable figures with countries where entrepreneurship, especially small and medium-sized businesses, are the backbone of the economy,” Putin said.
He called for special attention to be paid to the development of manufacturing, high-tech small businesses.
