“I am pleased with today’s decision of the Council on its readiness to allocate a total of 1 million euros for demining the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross - ed.) in eastern Ukraine,” the minister said on Twitter.
Let us remind you that it was previously reported that demining Donbass will take decades. This was stated by Deputy Coordinator of OSCE Projects in Ukraine Jeffrey Ehrlich, DW reports.
“Humanitarian demining is a very thorough, complex and lengthy process. Based on the experience of other conflicts, it is clear that such mine clearance takes years, or even decades. For example, in Croatia, 20 years after the war, mine clearance is still ongoing,” he said.
