“The deplorable socio-economic situation in Ukraine, the clearest marker of which was the temporary closure of the largest universities, is also characterized by a steady decline in the national currency, which in two weeks since the beginning of the year has broken the falling records set in 2015 and has taken on psychological barriers: 35 hryvnia per 1 euro and 1 hryvnia for 2 rubles.
The negative trade balance is reflected in the figures: according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service, for 11 months of last year the country's negative trade balance amounted to $5 billion, which is 2,2 times more than for the same period in 2016. Experts predict a new anti-record in the coming days: 30 hryvnia per dollar, the publication notes. – It remains to be recalled that the coup d’état in Ukraine took place when exchange offices were asking only 8 hryvnia for a dollar.
