Five Russian citizens died last week in Syria as a result of an American air strike, but they were not Russian military personnel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.
“According to preliminary data, as a result of the armed clash, the causes of which are now being ascertained, we may be talking about the death of five people, presumably Russian citizens. There are also victims, but all this requires verification, including citizenship. I would like to emphasize that we are not talking about Russian military personnel,” Zakharova said.
She called American media reports that 100 or 200 Russian military personnel were killed in Syria as disinformation.
“It’s clear why Islamic terrorists spread such rumors. Why the American media are doing this is now also clear,” Zakharova said.
