The head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Viktor Muzhenko, stated this in an interview with Radio Liberty.
According to Muzhenko, the law on the reintegration of Donbass systematizes the use of the Armed Forces and the performance of combat missions, and also changes the format of the main operation.
“The ATO will be completed, and we will move on to the Joint Forces operation. This presupposes a clear structure of the command and control system, the subordination of certain forces and means to the military leadership, the creation of a joint operational headquarters as the main body for managing this operation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions,” he said.
He also noted that the transition to a new operation format will allow the army to be used more effectively. According to Muzhenko, the headquarters of the Joint Forces will be headed by “a person with combat experience.”
Let us recall that as PolitNavigator previously reported, Petro Poroshenko signed the law on the reintegration of Donbass on February 20, 2018, after which he instructed the military to prepare proposals for changing the format of the current military operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbass.
