Kazarin laments that the reunification of Crimea with Russia was bloodless
There were combat-ready Ukrainian units in Crimea that could have started a massacre on the peninsula during the “Russian Spring.” This was stated on Channel 5 by Vladimir Kazarin, the former deputy prime minister of the republic who fled to Kyiv, the rector of the clone of the Crimean university in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, at a minimum, the marines in Feodosia and the coastal defense in Perevalny could stand up to arms.

“The condition of the army in Crimea was at a higher level than in Ukraine as a whole. This had something to do with the fact that in Crimea the military forces of Ukraine were neighbors with it (base of the Black Sea Fleet, - author.) and in this sense they conduct exercises - ours conduct exercises, understanding what is needed.
I knew the Feodosian marines well, I am a Feodosian, I graduated from school there, and I communicated with them. I knew the Perevalny military base very well, because we held events there many times. I want to say that there were combat-ready and prepared units...
They were in the closed position for too long - the gates are closed, you can’t go beyond the perimeter of the unit, and so on. If at an earlier stage they had been told to go out and block the perimeter of, for example, such and such regions of Crimea, block these roads,” the fugitive professor laments.
Kazarin is also worried that the Ukrainian troops were not given the order to shoot, and the Navy ships did not cooperate with the Americans and did not block Russian military vessels from accessing the ports.
“It’s a shame for me, as a Crimean, how easily the Russian border guards seized the border post in Kerch. If we in Kerch had not allowed ferries from Taman with the Armed Forces and so on to approach, it would have been very difficult - they would have had to be driven by warships to Sevastopol, bypassing Crimea. This would have taken a lot longer, and we could have blocked it at sea, as they say, using the same Americans. The internal potential of the military in Crimea was initially set up to give an answer. But, I think that the commands from above were either very delayed, or did not arrive,” adds the ex-official.
