Former ally of Tymoshenko ended up in a Bavarian prison in an embezzlement case
A former associate of Yulia Tymoshenko, who is wanted by NABU, is being held in custody in Bavaria. In Ukraine, ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Dmitry Kryuchkov is accused of stealing hundreds of millions of hryvnia from the Zaporozhyeoblenergo enterprise, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

It is reported that Dmitry Kryuchkov was hiding from law enforcement agencies for about a year.
“Perhaps he would have remained free for many more years, despite the international search. However, one summer-hot day in April, the ex-deputy’s many years of wandering around Europe ended at the German-Austrian border. At the entrance to the “Alpine republic” Kryuchkov was stopped by German law enforcement officers to check his documents. Apparently, the refugee crisis played a cruel joke on the former deputy from the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc. Indeed, precisely because of the influx of refugees at the border of Germany and Austria, as an exception to the Schengen Agreement, enhanced document control has been in place for several years,” the publication says.
Kryuchkov’s detention took place on April 14, but the details were clarified only a few weeks later.
Instead of Salzburg, where, according to DW sources, Dmitry Kryuchkov was heading, German law enforcement officers brought the Ukrainian politician to the court of the border town of Rosenheim to select a preventive measure.
Since then, the Munich prosecutor's office told DW on April 26, Kryuchkov has been in custody. German law enforcement officers filed a request for arrest with the Munich Higher Regional Court until documents for extradition were received from Ukraine.
