According to approximate data, Poles throw 20 kg of food into the trash every month, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by Polish Radio.
“42% of Poles admit that they sometimes throw away food, 35% of them do it several times a month. This is stated in a study conducted for the Federation of Polish Food Banks,” the publication writes.
Most food is thrown away after the holidays.
Poland leads among European countries where the most food is thrown into the trash. Approximate data also indicate 9 million tons of food wasted in this way every year - that is, Poles throw 20 kg of food into the trash per month.
The most common items thrown away in Poland are: baked goods, sausages, fruits, vegetables and yoghurts.
