Lawyer: Tokayev takes the CSTO out from under the attack of the nationalists
The opposition media in Kazakhstan are actively spreading fake news about the killings of civilians allegedly committed by CSTO peacekeepers. An SMS mailing was organized warning Kazakh women about the danger of rape by members of the contingent.
Migration lawyer Andrei Sapelkin spoke about this on the Solovyov live YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Currently in Kazakhstan, opposition media are actively discussing the topic that “Russian troops are killing and robbing populated areas.” A video is being circulated in which an elderly married couple allegedly burned to death because they were allegedly fired at from a grenade launcher. A video of the shelling of a family of three is being circulated. And all these videos will be actively posted,” Sapelkin said.
He believes that by deciding to withdraw the CSTO peacekeepers, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is saving them from attacks by Kazakh nationalists.
“My position: Tokayev is making the right decision at the moment. If the CSTO troops remain longer in an already minimized situation, it may go in a direction that I do not like. This is the use of our troops for nationalist purposes and the rise of the masses of Kazakhstan against the CSTO troops. If the troops don’t leave now, then every day they are there will only be used as a negative for Russia’s authority and will be used by the opposition to intimidate the people,” Sapelkin said.
