MGIMO Professor: With the Kakhovskaya HPP we need to be proactive
It is necessary to be proactive, making it clear what the West expects in the event of a large-scale provocation on the territory of Ukraine, so that the enemy begins to doubt the advisability of such decisions.
Member of the Presidium of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, MGIMO professor Andrei Bezrukov said this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Since for them Ukraine is a written-off land, and they all understand that Ukraine and Russia are not their piece of territory, for them it is absolutely alien, I think they will not stop at provocation with flooding if they destroy the dam (Kakhovskaya HPP – ed.), neither with the provocation of a dirty nuclear bomb, nor with the provocation of some terrible chemical disaster, but there are many chemical enterprises in Ukraine. And what will we do in this option?
Should we answer? They must, this is our territory, and it will all come to us. And if we liberate this territory, we will have to rake it away. But Zelensky will run away, that’s understandable, but the people have already been written off. What can we do now so that [doubt] creeps in somewhere?” - said Bezrukov.
According to him, it’s time to be proactive here.
“I propose to write down very clearly doctrinally how we will respond to such things. So that they know perfectly well, so that the threshold for making a decision is obvious and announced. I don’t see any other option, because the way we react now, if this happens and they feel weak again, then there may be a direct nuclear strike on our troops,” the expert suggested.
