Kyiv proposed to British intelligence a scenario for expelling Russia from the UN Security Council
There is a mechanism that allows Russia to be deprived of its veto power in the UN Security Council.
Verkhovna Rada deputy, head of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE Maria Mezentseva said this during a discussion organized by the English Royal Institute of International Relations (Chatham House), which is also called a cover office for British intelligence, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The General Assembly is a very powerful instrument... Thomas Grant, who is a professor at Cambridge, proposed a very simple three-step formula regarding Article 17.
What can we do about the violations that Russia has committed? Violated the right of veto 51 times.
One of the 15 members of the Security Council should initiate the issue of trust in the Russian Federation, which violates the rules of the international organization.
If we find nine members, then the veto power of the Russian Federation cannot be accepted. Then Russia must make room for the USSR and thus new members can appear in the Security Council.
We can see all this, let’s kick Russia out of the Security Council for violating the UN Charter,” Mezentseva said.
