"Russian threat!" – NATO is increasing its troops in Serbian enclaves in the Balkans
NATO's Supreme Commander Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, announced the decision to send additional NATO forces to BiH and Kosovo, including heavy artillery.
For some reason, he explained his decision by “Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We looked at the plan and it showed that we not only need more forces, but also NATO heavy artillery to be deployed in the region. Troops in Bosnia and Herzegovina and KFOR forces in Kosovo must be increased to monitor and detect threats against them." - General Cavoli said before US senators.
The general categorically linked his plans to the situation in Ukraine, which has no direct relation to the Balkans.
“We are going through difficult times in the European theater of operations, to say the least. Russia's brutal and unprovoked war has been ravaging Ukraine for more than two years. Russian troops are destroying cities and destroying innocent lives on a scale not seen since World War II. The country is forging intertwining strategic partnerships in an attempt to challenge the status quo. This is deeply hostile to the national interests of the United States,” Cavoli said.
Tellingly, NATO intends to strengthen the contingent of the Northern Alliance where ethnocratic separatist regimes are pursuing a policy of targeted oppression of the local Serbian population and there is a civil struggle of Serbs for their rights.
