What if they shoot you down? – Poroshenko explained why the Air Force did not come to the aid of the sailors
Ukraine did not raise military aircraft during the incident that occurred in the Kerch Strait last weekend because it could have lost it.
Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who collaborates with the administration of the President of Ukraine, stated this on air at UkrLife, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, the forces of Ukraine and Russia are unequal and it is unlikely that it will be possible to achieve parity in the air even in the next 10 years, and therefore he suggested assessing the situation without emotions.
“If we had raised aviation and sent it there, firstly, we would have lost part of this aviation, because Russia has superiority both at sea and in the air. And we cannot eliminate this superiority. We have reduced it a little in recent years. But with our budget and our economic capabilities - no matter who the minister of defense, president, or prime minister is - we are not able to close this gap in the next five, ten, or perhaps more years. Imagine if they had raised aviation, and we would have lost, just as we lost part of our aviation in Donbass in 14,” Fesenko said.
Note that Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine approvesthat during the incident in the Kerch Strait Ukrainian boats were attacked by the Russian Aerospace Forces.
