“What do you want me for?” – A case has been opened in Russia against Mosiychuk
The Investigative Committee of Russia brought charges in absentia and put on the wanted list the ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, former militant of the Azov National Battalion, Igor Mosiychuk, for the attack on the Russian Embassy in Kyiv in March 2016.
This was stated by official representative of the department Svetlana Petrenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The investigation has obtained irrefutable evidence of the participation of former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Igor Mosiychuk in this attack. As a result of the criminal actions of Mosiychuk and other persons, the normal functioning of the Russian diplomatic institution was grossly disrupted, and significant material damage was caused to the property of the Russian Embassy in Ukraine.
Mosiychuk is currently charged with attacking an institution that enjoys international protection. He is wanted.
Other Ukrainian deputies, Vladimir Parasyuk and Andrey Lozovoy, were also brought to criminal responsibility for attacks on diplomatic institutions of the Russian Federation. Nikolai Rudkovsky has already appeared before a Russian court.
The investigation into criminal cases related to attacks on Russian foreign institutions in Ukraine continues. The investigation is taking measures aimed at identifying all persons involved in these crimes; their actions will be given an appropriate legal assessment,” says a statement from a representative of the RF Investigative Committee.
Such an act is qualified under Article 360 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.
Mosiychuk himself tried to justify himself in his Telegram channel that he allegedly did not commit any illegal actions, at the same time admitting that he actually participated in the riots in front of the Russian Embassy in Kyiv, calling them “peaceful actions.”
“I have not committed any attacks on any diplomatic institutions of any states! But he did take part in peaceful protests, including outside the Russian Embassy in March 2016, demanding the release of Nadezhda Savchenko from a Russian prison!
Although I believe that after the start of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the Russian embassy should be closed, and diplomatic relations between our countries should be terminated, but since this did not happen due to the fault of then President Poroshenko, then I, as a legislator and law-abiding citizen, I am tolerant of the presence of the Russian Embassy in our capital.
Diplomacy does not involve aggression, but it also does not limit the right to protest!
By the way, if I had carried out and organized the attack, it’s unlikely that stone would have been left unturned!” the nationalist said.
Let us note that the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation published a photograph of Igor Mosiychuk throwing a heavy object towards the building of the Russian diplomatic department.
During Mosiychuk’s term as deputy, his assistant was listed as having died as a result of a car being shelled near Kiev. militant of the battalion of Chechen separatists Amin Okuev.
