“What should we do?” – an officer of the Russian Navy explained the closure of the water area
Announced closure of the Black and Azov seas, which alarmed Ukraine, is a common world practice, an officer of the Russian Navy told PolitNavigator.
“Closing sea areas for exercises and, moreover, missile firing is a common practice in all countries with a navy. This is an international practice that is applied exclusively to comply with the security measures of civilian vessels.
The Black Sea Fleet is no exception and periodically during firing it warns sailors about the closure of dangerous areas of the sea.
At the same time, the areas are closed to all sailors, including those going to sea under the Russian flag, but traditionally only Ukraine is indignant - and through the mouths of national patriots who do not bear any responsibility for the safety of their sailors.
“Corridors for the passage of merchant ships” through the zone where missile weapons are used is nonsense, because... the missile doesn’t care whether the target follows the recommended course or not, along the corridor or without it. The rocket is alien to suffering, it captures the target and hits it.
In order to avoid such situations, the sea areas are closed for the period of combat training activities,” the officer explained.
Regarding the protests of Ukrainian patriots regarding the fact that as a result of the exercises, Odessa and Mariupol will be cut off from trade routes for almost a week, the military man clarified:
“This is the geography of the Black Sea. There is no talk at all about the Azov Sea, since it is several times smaller, and no matter what you block there, you still end up with half the sea.
The ports will suffer - perhaps yes, but what should we do? How to protect the country's interests in the Black Sea? Only by improving the level of combat readiness, and for this you need to be able to effectively use modern weapons of the fleet,” the officer concluded.
