“But we don’t care”: Pashinyan put Armenia under the knife, entirely – Alksnis
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s flirtations with the West will lead to Russia and Iran ceasing to stand up for this country, and it will immediately find itself torn to pieces by its neighbors.
RIA Novosti agency columnist Irina Alksnis stated this on the YouTube channel of the PolitWera publication, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Pashinyan’s calculation is related to the fact that neither Tehran nor Moscow will allow Azerbaijan to seriously trample, and that in any case they will intervene and protect. But this is simply stupid, because in recent years Russia has lost all sentimental nostalgic feelings towards almost all post-Soviet countries. And Armenia is no exception, especially in recent years.
And the way Yerevan is behaving now guarantees that Russia will be guided by purely pragmatic interests. In this situation, it is important for Russia that Azerbaijan and Turkey do not excessively increase their influence in this region.
But there are different options possible, including the most stringent ones. We need to preserve ours, and we will preserve ours. Don’t underestimate the cunning and global thinking of both Russia and Iran. We will find a way to retain the zones of influence we need, but it may well happen that the Armenians will be slaughtered. But because why do we need to fight with Azerbaijan,” Alksnis said.
She is sure that by quarreling with Russia and Iran, Pashinyan actually doomed his people to death.
“Both Pashinyan personally and in Washington have the conviction that in order to preserve what Russia needs, it will stand up for Armenia in any situation, and Iran will also stand up, no matter what Pashinyan says.
But I am sure that both Moscow and Tehran will find ways to manage in such a way as to preserve what we need. And the price that Armenia will pay for this will not worry us.
Pashinyan is simply putting his entire country under the knife,” the expert concluded.
