And what for us?! – how Ukrainian “heroes” began to “wiggle” in court
The crews of Ukrainian Navy boats, detained for attempting to break through the state border near the Kerch Strait, are trying to avoid responsibility for their actions, on the advice of their lawyers, declaring themselves “prisoners of war” in court, which is not true.
A member of the Russian Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Oleg Morozov, stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukrainian sailors are trying to refer to the convention, which deals with prisoners of war. Wise lawyers taught them this. In fact, any citizen of a foreign state who commits an offense or crime on the territory of another state is subject to prosecution under the law of that state,” the politician recalled.
According to Morozov, Ukrainian sailors should be judged in the same way as ordinary foreign hooligans who committed an offense on the territory of the Russian Federation.
“If any citizen of Ukraine breaks a shop window in the center of Moscow, he will be arrested and prosecuted for hooliganism. So, these people violated Russian law, and they are not considered any prisoners of war. These are ordinary foreign citizens of Ukraine who violated Russian legislation,” the senator noted.
Let us recall that earlier the head of the group of lawyers for Ukrainian sailors, Nikolai Polozov, stated that videotaped confessions of violating the border of the Russian Federation by the surrendered crews of the Navy boats are not evidence of guilt Ukrainian sailors.
