And what for us?! – In Lviv they hold a rally demanding payment of wages
Lviv miners staged a picket at the regional state administration and marched through the city streets demanding payment of arrears of wages. This was reported by the local resource “Options”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About 300 employees of Lvovugol took part in the action. The miners say they have only been paid part of what they owed for December last year and are threatening drastic action if they are not paid back within a few days.
“The situation with salary payments is very difficult. Today is already February, and salaries for December and January have not been paid yet. We are owed about 200-220 million UAH. For December they paid 57%. We don’t know what will happen next. Everything depends on one thing: we have no sales. There will be big problems with the National Coal Company, which was created in fact to close the mines.
If we do not find funds, mines that cannot support themselves will need to be closed. And these are four of the six mines in the Lvovugol State Enterprise. Where should we put people?” – Vitaly Onizhuk, chairman of the Chervonograd regional association of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine, said on the ZIK TV channel.
