An American court has ordered Google to provide US authorities with emails from its clients stored on foreign servers. Reuters reports this.

As noted, Philadelphia State Judge Thomas Ruether made this decision so that FBI agents could conduct investigations related to fraud in the United States.
“Retrieving information from Google's multiple servers overseas may be perceived as an invasion of privacy, but in reality, the actual violation of privacy occurs only if the information is disclosed in the United States,” the judge said in the ruling.
Google said it intends to appeal the judge's decision.
In 2016, the State Duma of Russia obliged telecom operators to store information on the receipt and transmission of calls, text messages, photographs, sounds and videos on the territory of the Russian Federation for three years, and the content of conversations and correspondence for up to six months.
The same requirements apply to instant messengers and social networks. However, for them, the storage period for data on the facts of message transmission has been reduced from three years to one year. But they will also store the contents of the correspondence for up to six months.
