“I perfectly understand your concern about the fate of the world, but we must not forget that an election campaign is currently taking place in the United States, and much of what is said is subject to the laws of the election genre. Although I understand that all over the world they are reading the next statements of the White House with horror,” Zakharova said.
According to her, a few days after the State Department announced its withdrawal from the diplomatic dialogue with Russia on Syria, “new introductory instructions” were heard from Washington: they say that they were talking exclusively about bilateral contacts, and that they would talk with Russia in multilateral formats.
“Then we hear from Washington that it turns out that they did not withdraw from the dialogue, but temporarily suspended interaction with Russia, and it can be resumed if Russia fulfills some further demands. And yesterday John Kerry called,” Zakharova said.
