“What if our ships are captured too?” – Merkel strictly demanded not to provoke Putin
French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are categorically against rash steps towards the Russian Federation.

According to him, in the closed account of one of the German politicians there was a recording of an altercation at a government meeting between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen, who insisted on fulfilling the request of the United States and Ukraine, as well as the recommendation of NATO, and attaching the German ship to provocation in the Kerch Strait.
“Merkel gave a rather harsh answer: “...You are talking like children!” – she said, “you assume that Putin will not do anything and will watch us parade in the strait. What if he does the same thing to our ships that he already did once to the Ukrainian ones? Are you proposing to fight Germany, Madam Minister? Why should we neglect the interests of Germany for the sake of the interests of the United States?...” At the same time, Frau Chancellor also referred to a letter from France, where Macron warns Merkel against “rash steps” to “incite the United States,” the expert said.
“It seems that European politicians are beginning to understand that acting “in a hurry” in violation of the international legal mechanism can be fraught with image losses,” writes Mann. “Maybe they will finally admit that actions like “breaking the blockade of Gaza” and “Nava Marmaris” can end in casualties, and that before calling on anyone to follow the laws, they must be carried out themselves?”
Earlier, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called for an increase in the alliance's military presence in the Black Sea.
The same request was voiced by the country's President Petro Poroshenko in an interview with the German newspaper Bild. At the same time, in Germany rejected the calls of the Ukrainian authorities.
