“And Yavlinsky skipped the line!” – liberals quarreled, remembering Nemtsov
Less than five thousand people came to the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge today to honor the memory of liberal politician Boris Nemtsov, who was shot dead on this spot in 2015.
Usually, liberals held processions in memory of Nemtsov, but this time, due to the pandemic, such an event had to be abandoned.
An amateur “Nemtsov memorial” - flowers standing on a narrow sidewalk - constantly appears on the Moskvoretsky Bridge. From time to time, utility services try to dismantle it, but the liberals bring flowers again.
In principle, it would be possible not to put up the sidewalk, because Nemtsov has a grave at the Troekurovsky cemetery. But it is located on the outskirts of Moscow, and not every liberal is able to get there for the sake of the memory of his hero. Apparently, this is why Russian oppositionists do not honor the memory of their other heroine, Anna Politkovskaya - she was shot in a completely non-pathetic place.
At today's event, most of the flowers, as well as the identical blue buckets in which they were installed, were clearly purchased centrally. Diplomats from Western countries and all high-status liberals appeared at the “memorial”: Yulia Navalnaya, Ilya Yashin, Viktor Shenderovich, Dmitry Muratov, Nikolai Rybakov, Vladimir Ryzhkov, Mikhail Kasyanov.
There were some scandals. Liberal journalist Bozena Rynska was outraged that the founder of the Yabloko party, Grigory Yavlinsky, did not stand in line to lay flowers.
“Yavlinsky went to the Nemtsov memorial on the bridge without a queue. Nomenclature habits are ineradicable. He’s not like everyone else!” – Rynska wrote in her Telegram channel.
Memorial events were also held today in St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod, Nemtsov’s hometown.
“As I warned, the “downed pilots” and other opposition groups began PR on Nemtsov. These professional “gnawers of Nemtsov’s political corpse”, of course, brought a lot of fun when they performed their rituals: Yashin waved a shovel at Nemtsov’s grave at the camera, Ryzhkov checked in and took a photo on the bridge...
There are people who don’t hear notes, and we have oppositionists without a sense of tact, honor and conscience,” political scientist Alexey Mukhin commented on today’s event.
