Abkhazia considers Georgia a threat and asks the Russian Federation for military assistance
Since the issue with Georgia, which is aggressive towards Abkhazia, continues to be relevant, Sukhum must continue and deepen its allied relations with the Russian Federation.
President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have a global unresolved issue with Georgia. Some analogies can be drawn between the relationship between Azerbaijan and Karabakh and Georgia and us. And against this background, of course, it is obvious that in the name of ensuring the interests of the people of Abkhazia at this historical stage, and in the future too, it is very important to strengthen allied relations with the Russian Federation,” Bzhania said.
He emphasized that at his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, issues of interaction between the Russian armed forces and the Armed Forces of Abkhazia were discussed.
“First of all, I voiced issues related to the security of the Republic of Abkhazia. We discussed the state of the armed forces, weapons, military and special equipment. A letter has been prepared.
This information should not be openly public, but the figures and arguments that I presented were taken into account, and the corresponding instructions were given to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and these steps will lead to the strengthening of our military potential, and to positive changes in the Ministry of Defense of the Republic Abkhazia,” added the President of Abkhazia.
